Frequently asked questions about our creative space

  1. What kind of materials do I need to start illustrating?

To get started with bird and nature illustration, you only need a medium-grain sketchbook, HB and 2B graphite pencils, and a kneaded eraser. If you prefer color, basic pastel watercolors or soft colored pencils are ideal for achieving that luminous, calm finish that characterizes our style.

  2. Do you offer in-person workshops or only digital content?

For now, we mainly work with downloadable guides, article-format tutorials, and visual inspiration collections. We do not organize in-person workshops, but we do share ideas and step-by-step processes so you can develop your projects from home, at your own pace and without pressure.

  3. Can I use the illustrations I see here for my own projects?

All the visual content we show on the blog and in the galleries is for inspirational and educational purposes. If you wish to use any illustration as a reference for your personal practice, you are welcome to do so. For commercial use or public reproduction, please contact us at info@fatbirdie.com and we will inform you of the conditions.

  4. How do I choose colors for a minimalist bird drawing?

We recommend starting with a reduced palette of three tones: a neutral base color (beige, light gray, or off-white), a soft accent color (sage green, pale terracotta, or dusty blue), and a darker tone for details (graphite brown or slate gray). This combination maintains visual serenity and highlights the bird's silhouette without overloading the drawing.

  5. What if I have no previous drawing experience?

You don't need any experience. Our guides are designed for beginners: we start with basic shape observation exercises, then move on to bird silhouettes using simple geometric figures, and gradually add feather and expression details. The important thing is to enjoy the process and connect with nature while you draw.

  6. How can I share my creations with the community?

We would love to see your progress. You can send us a photo of your illustration to info@fatbirdie.com or tag us on your social media if you share your work. From time to time, we select some community creations to inspire others on our blog, always with your permission and proper credit.

A sanctuary for quiet creativity

Fat Birdie was born from the desire to offer a space where art and nature meet without haste. We believe in the power of simple illustrations, soft colors, and small creative rituals to bring calm back to everyday life. Our mission is to inspire each person to rediscover the pleasure of creating, observing, and connecting with the essential, without the need for great resources or prior knowledge. Here, every stroke, every page, and every project is an invitation to pause, breathe, and let the imagination fly free.
